8 Realizations for a Flourishing Life is an online certification course running every Saturday in January 2025 with Venerable Jian Guang Shih!

Duration: 90 minutes per class

You are invited to explore and awaken the Eight Realizations within you—timeless truths that can transform your life and help you cultivate your full potential.

In this 5-week interactive course, we’ll journey together as a learning cohort and dive into The Sutra on the Eight Realizations of the Great Beings—a foundational and widely recognized text in East Asian Mahayana Buddhism. Experience the healing power of the Dharma flowing through these words, and discover how these realizations can free you from stress, craving, and confusion—so your path will align with clarity, compassion, and purpose.

Week 1: Introduction + First Realization
“Seeing through the Illusion of Permanence”

Week 2: Second & Third Realizations
“Taming Desire and Finding Enough”

Week 3: Fourth & Fifth Realizations
“Nurturing Diligence and Developing Wisdom”

Week 4: Sixth & Seventh Realizations
“Practicing Generosity and Embracing Simplicity”

Week 5: Eighth Realization + Wrap-Up
“Compassion in Action”

Each session (2 hours)

• Opening (10 min): Check-in & sutra recitation
• Presentation (30 min): Key teaching of the day
• Discussion (40 min): Connecting the teaching to life and society
• Action Plan & Sharing (20 min): Creating practical steps for transformation
• Closing (20 min): Recap and contemplative practice

The full cost for this program is $249. A three-tier option is available for those who are unable to afford the full course cost.
